How to Hold onto Peace this Summer.

Summer is often a season of BUSY. There are people to see, activities to do, fun to be had… And all that busy-ness can feel stressful, chaotic, and steal your peace! In this post, I’m sharing a few tips on how to hold onto Peace this summer. 🌿

I love the fun and excitement that summer brings, but sometimes it feels like a LOT. There are SO many we could say yes to, so many people to hang out with, and it can be really hard to juggle — especially if you struggle with people-pleasing. 😨 How are we supposed to keep calm and carry on?

Here’s how to Hold onto Peace this Summer:

  • You have CHARGE of your time.

You may be giving up control of your time in ways you don’t even realize! Like, answering every text as soon as it comes in, or checking social notifications. Maybe you feel like you have to respond to EVERY request from your kids RIGHT AWAY. (Making them wait teaches patience, btw!) You have been given charge of your time — you can use it, share it, give it, keep it — but you do NOT have to give charge of your time to someone (or something!) else.

  • Get clear on your PRIORITIES.

If you’re giving your time to stuff that doesn’t matter, then you’re probably going to feel really frustrated. You may even resent things that you feel like you should be enjoying! 😩 Priorities can help you get out of “defense mode” and start responding with more intention. (Offense-mode!) They also help take the guilt out of saying yes, or no… and go a LONG way in creating a more peaceful life.

  • Decide to HOLD onto Peace.

Peace is a DECISION. You can choose peace whenever you want — and when you don’t feel peace, it’s because you’ve CHOSEN to lay it down. Awhile ago, I woke up at the exact time when we usually leave for my weightlifting class. UGH! I immediately felt my adrenaline rise, my heart started pumping faster, and I started racing around the house to get ready. As I went to rip the kids out of bed, I realized: “I’m choosing this.”

So I took a step back. I relaxed my shoulders and slowed my breathing. I decided that, even if we moved quickly, we were NOT going to do it from a place of stress. I woke the kids up and asked if they wanted to hurry to make it there. We decided together that we wanted to try, and by some miracle, we were only 10 minutes late. 🤯 I had to do a LOT of self-talk to stop that natural stress reaction, but we honestly had a GREAT morning!

  • Do a Calendar Audit!

I know I’ve shared this before, but it’s such a practical process to get more intentional and more clear with your time. A calendar audit isn’t about trying to “stuff all the things into an already full schedule.” It’s also not about creating a PERFECT routine. It’s about getting intentional about how you truly want to use your time — and what that would look like in real life. You can download a free Calendar Audit here!

Friend, I want you to be able to hold onto peace this season, (for ALL the seasons!) and also enjoy all the fun things that summer holds! Only YOU get to decide what that looks like for you, and what level of busy you want to include in your life. 🌿
