What To Do When Life Doesn't Go as Planned...

REAL TALK: It’s been a LOT for the past few weeks. (Like, a LOT, a lot!) It's been a few weeks of things that just keep happening, and over the weekend everything kinda hit me emotionally. So, in this post, I’m sharing about WHAT to do when life doesn't go as planned. (This is what I needed to hear this past weekend, so I thought maybe you might need it, too!)

The past few weeks have NOT gone as planned. (At all. 😬) We’ve been sick, our car broke down, and homeschooling has been a difficult transition. (Among many other things.)

After a few weeks of feeling like everything was overwhelming, I just needed a day. I took time to feel ALL the feels, had a good cry (my husband doesn’t “get” that!), and watched a dumb SciFi movie. 😁 When I was feeling better, I worked on finding some solutions that might help.

So, here’s what to do when NOTHING goes as planned:

  • Season your life with GRACE:

If life isn’t going as planned, it’s time to SEASON your life with a lot of grace. It’s a time for a balancing act. You need to decide what you need most in the moment. Do you need to take some time? Do you need to wallow for a little while? Maybe have a good cry?

  • Get CLARITY on where you’re at:

Once you’ve had a good time to wallow/recover/nap (whatever you need!), it’s a great idea to grab a journal and get clarity. Ask yourself “What is causing me stress? What is creating the feelings of overwhelm?” Give yourself space to get clear on what is actually going on. Write it down.

  • Ask yourself what you NEED:

Now that you’ve got some more CLARITY, it’s time to figure out some next steps. This isn’t about finding all the answers, but it’s more about figuring out what might need to happen, or change. Ask yourself, “What do I NEED? What am I CRAVING?” Include your feelings in this! The more information you have helps you create more change.

  • Take a look at your REALITY:

Whenever we are needing change, there’s going to be a GAP between where you want are, and where you want to be. Take a look at everything you’ve written so far. What would it take to get from where you are, to where you want to be? Write some ideas down! You may find that you need to eliminate something, add something, or re-arrange some things!
