Buzz & Build: Our Summer 2026 Intentions
It’s June—and if you’re anything like me, summer has a way of slipping through your fingers before you even realize it’s begun.
Somewhere around mid-May, it hits me: Summer is Coming. The kids will be home, our rhythms will shift, and life will fill up quickly with sunshine, plans, and people. And I used to find myself buying school supplies at the end of summer, wondering where it all went.
A few years ago, I decided I didn’t that enough was enough. I wanted to live summer on purpose. So I started with what I love most: Journaling.
Instead of just listing out what we wanted to do, I began writing what I wanted the season to feel like. As I journaled, I saw themes begin to show up — ones that helped me envision the future season and notice where I could shift my decisions to help build the summer I was longing for.
This journaling practice has turned into a mini-class inside The Wonderment Community — you can join for free & take the course on your own time!
(I called Summer 2025 “Mudling Summer” because I had a hunch it might be kids’ last “kid” summer. You know — you know, the kind where they play outside with abandon, get covered in mud, and fully live in that little-kid magic.)
As I was planning this year, a few themes kept rising to the surface…
🌞 As our kids are getting older, I want to help them grow in self-sufficiency and life skills. Things like cooking, baking, and learning how to self-start on chores.
🌞 I’m coming out of the trenches of a three-year struggle with my health (Praise God! 🙌🏻), and I finally have the energy to dig into my health goals! I’m planning on moving my body more, eating nourishing foods, and building strength again.
🌞 We have a lot on our plates, so we’ll mostly be staying close to home. But I still want to make space for fun local adventures, classic (and new) movies, and creativity woven into our days.
🌞 And finally, this feels like a summer of building. We have so many projects in motion right now, and they all require something steady, intentional, and consistent work.
As that word — building — kept coming up, I started thinking about what that would look like in our life right now.
Building together.
Building towards our long-term dreams.
Building stronger, healthier bodies.
Building up our kids.
And… I kept picturing bumblebees. 🐝 I know — it would probably make more logical sense to picture a carpenter. 🤷🏻♀️ But the bumblebee wouldn’t leave my mind.
They do a lot of work, but they move slowly and steadily. Never rushing, rarely stopping. They move with purpose, but without hurry. (And they take a nap when they need it!)
And that’s the kind of summer I want. Not rushed, but steady, meaningful, intentional progress. So this year, we’re calling it:
Buzz & Build.
Here’s to a summer built slowly, intentionally, and full of wonder. 🌿
